FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Two Trust Stacks Launch this Week

Prague, Czechia — October 7, 2026 — The First Person Cooperative announced today that two open source projects it initiated will launch this week. OpenVTC, a project at Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust Labs, will be demoed  at the Linux Plumbers Conference (LPC) in Prague. Later this week, two Wikipedia veterans will release v0.1 of the P2P Trust Stack.

Both of these projects are implementations of a new technology called decentralized trust graphs [DTG] which enable people, communities, and AI agents to establish trustworthy digital relationships directly, peer-to-peer, without the need for centralized platforms. Developed at the Trust Over IP (ToIP) project under LF Decentralized Trust, the DTG open standards are the key to building a scalable trust layer for the internet that enables all participants to exercise full digital sovereignty and portability without sacrificing security or privacy.

OpenVTC, the Open Verifiable Trust Community stack, is a complete DTG implementation in Rust, with support for verifiable trust agents (VTAs), verifiable trust communities (VTCs), DNS-based registries, ZKP credential proofs, and post-quantum digital signatures. The development effort is led by Glenn Gore and his team at  Affinidi, and stewarded, documented and tested by Geoff Turk of First Person.

The P2P Trust Stack is a complete DTG implementation in TypeScript over libp2p, supporting VTAs, VTCs, the full DTG credential family, a peer-to-peer DID and name registry, selective-disclosure credentials, and post-quantum signatures, built for direct peer connectivity without cloud hosting. The P2P Trust Stack was developed by Erika Bjune and Shannon Bailey, Wikipedia veterans who both have a long history of leading open source projects for public good.

“Trust on the internet should not be hostage to any account on any platform,” said Drummond Reed, co-founder of the First Person Project. “It should be controlled by every individual and community based on their own verifiable trust relationships. OpenVTC and the P2P Trust Stack are parallel implementations that show how the Internet of Trust  can work equally for everyone the same way the Internet works equally for everyone.”

Potential applications of DTG technology includes privacy-preserving proof of personhood; verifiable community membership, affiliations, and attestations; delegation of authority to both people and AI agents; trusted service-to-service interactions; secure device relationships; and discovery and connection with trusted peers in distributed networks. These projects are not positioned as replacements for existing identity, security, or authorization systems. Instead, they layer over internal systems to enable cross-boundary trust networks the same way the Internet enables cross-boundary data networks.

About First Person

The member-owned First Person Cooperative (FPC) provides neutral governance of the First Person Network as an open standard verifiable trust network (VTN) according to the inherent rights and protections of human beings.  Cooperative ownership makes the First Person Network immune to capture. FPC is a leader in the development of decentralized trust graph standards at the Linux Foundation, W3C, and other standards bodies; a contributor to open source DTG implementation projects; and a coordinator of efforts to establish VTNs representing a variety of stakeholder communities around the world.

About the P2P Trust Stack

The P2P Trust Stack is an independent project by Truststackers, a peer-to-peer trust infrastructure using TypeScript and libp2p.

About OpenVTC

OpenVTC—the Open Verifiable Trust Community—is an open source project hosted by Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust Labs  that implements the Trust Over IP (ToIP) open standards for decentralized trust graphs and verifiable trust infrastructure. Its public repositories are maintained through the OpenVTC GitHub organization at https://github.com/OpenVTC. Visit the OpenVTC community at https://openvtc.net/
